Let me say this before I get into the review here. Since this band has not really established any history on them we far as press related subjects or things of that matter I had to say little is known about TORTURE . Well for me this is an added bonus for it gives me the desire of wanting to know more about them. Upon receiving TORTURE 's new release Winter I was skeptical to their sound giving the cover elements remind me of Type O Negative's inner art work of October Rust. But lone behold what I was in for as I heard the track that did me in called Suicide giving some melodic thrusts with firm timing corresponding with ambient beats of the rhythm division. Guitar workings on the last track of The North echoes the doom feel as the voices of Mario Dressler & Philip Mayer combine an on front of vocal grandeur while Alexander Dietz pounds raw tempos while meantime Maria Krebs fills the emotional bass construction.

Adding all the elements united TORTURE has sometime that remains apparent. A group that strives with good recording while not trying to be something they are not. Up front raw natural talent is where I give TORTURE major points in. A job well done!

Lasst mich kurz was erwähnen, bevor ich hier mit der eigentlichen Review beginne: es gibt über TORTURE an sich leider nicht viel zu sagen, da es nicht wirklich eine Bandbio oder Presse relevantes Zeugs gibt (Sorry, ich hätte da wohl besser ein paar Infos übersetzen sollen :( TORTURE kommen aus Würzburg und existieren seit ca. 5 Jahren – Cal). Nun ja, für mich ist das sicher ein Bonus, da es in mir den Wunsch erweckt, mehr über die Band zu erfahren. Mit dem Erhalt von TORTURE 's aller ersten Output Winter war ich dann doch etwas skeptisch was den Sound betraf, erinnerte mich das Cover zu Winter doch an das Booklet zu Type O Negative's October Rust. Aber für sich allein betrachtet, war es dann der Song Suicide , der es mir mächtig angetan hatte: diverse melodische Einschübe mit sicherem Timing und einschlägigen umgebenden Beats aus der Rhythmusdivision. Die Gitarrenarbeit beim letzten Track The North lässt ein gewisses doomiges Gefühl widerhallen, während sich die Stimmen von Mario Dressler & Philip Mayer zu einer erhabenen Gesangsfront vereinen, Alexander Dietz rohe Tempi anschlägt und eine Dame namens Maria Krebs mit harmonischen Basskonstruktionen aufwartet.

Alle Elemente vereint, haben TORTURE etwas, das sichtbar bleibt: eine Band, die sich um eine gute Produktion bemüht und nicht versucht, etwas zu sein, das sie nicht sind. Das vordergründig natürliche Talent von TORTURE ist es, wofür ich hier hauptsächlich meine Punkte vergebe. Gut gemachte Arbeit!
